How to Get Involved

Here at Church By the Side of the Road, we love and encourage volunteerism and serving the Body of Christ. We have a variety of ways you can volunteer and it all begins by completing an Application for Ministry form and turning it into the office. Once your form is received and processed, a copy will be sent to the ministry leaders in the areas of your interest. Below are some of the ministries at CBSR that you can volunteer with.

Altar Ministry

Spend approx. 15-20 min. with people, after the service, who come forward for salvation on Sunday mornings, to pray with them, walk thru scripture, answer questions and gather information.

Blessing Cupboard

Come every Monday from noon to 3pm to fill food bags, sort and organize clothing, package hygiene items and more, to be given to the homeless and needy.

Children’s & Youth Ministries

Lend your love and desire to work with children or youth to these important ministries. Volunteers are needed on Sunday mornings to teach Sunday School at 9:15am, or volunteer in the Nursery and with Children’s Church during 2nd service. You can also help on Wednesday evenings at our Mid-Week Service in the Nursery, with children and with youth.

Free-Lunch Ministry

Every Tuesday at noon we prepare and serve a healthy and delicious free lunch for the homeless and low-income in our community. Help is needed to prepare the food, set-up, serve and clean-up.

Front Desk /Office Volunteers

Be the first face that people see when they come through our doors! Greet guests, assist with office tasks, provide resource assistance, answer phones and share the love of Christ! Volunteers are needed Tuesday-Saturday & Sunday mornings. Office volunteers are also needed to assist with tasks in the office such as assembling notebooks, copying, etc.

Help make sure every visitor and attendee feels welcomed by the love of God on Sunday mornings. Commit to one Sunday monthly to pass out bulletins and greet guests.

Men’s Ministry

Get involved and fellowship with other men in our church through Bible Study groups, Men’s Breakfast, service at special events or where needed, community service projects, accountability groups, fundraisers, game nights, retreats and more.

If you have a heart to reach to world for Christ, join the Mission’s Committee to learn more about the missions we support or take part in mission’s trips to Brazil, Malawi or India. We also have local community outreach opportunities such as National Night Out, Rally for Hope, Thanksgiving Community Meal and Free-Lunch Program every Tuesday at noon.

Prayer Ministries

Prayer is vital to our Christian life. People are needed to pray with others every Sunday at 2nd service. A “Prayer Chain” is available through email, would you like to be on the list?

Property Committee

Are you skilled in carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, gardening, etc? Help is needed to maintain our building and grounds. Work Parties are held during the year to take care of weeding, pruning, general clean-up and more. Let us know if you can help!

Technology Committee

Help support the technological needs of our church. Will train on our projector and sound system. Let us know of your talents & areas of expertise with web design, video production, podcast, or anything related. Sound & Projector help is needed on Sunday mornings & at weddings, funeral & memorial services & special events. (Computer experience is required for the projector.)

Help guests find a seat on Sunday mornings, collect offering, pass out registers, help maintain a safe and secure worship experience and attend to the needs during worship with a “ready to serve” attitude.

Walk the Block

Join this exciting evangelism ministry as they go out every Tues. & Thur. evenings at 6pm to pray for people and spread the “Good News” along Tukwila International Blvd.

Women’s Ministry

Be a part of the monthly planning meetings, every 2nd Tuesday at 7pm. Quarterly fellowship activities are planned, fundraisers, Sister Circles, ministry opportunities, retreats, luncheons and more.

Worship Ministry

All are welcome and encouraged to join the music ministry. The Worship Team ministers on Sunday mornings and other times throughout the year. Special choirs are formed around Easter and Christmas. Can you sing a solo or play an instrument? Let us know!

Learn more about your spiritual gifts

The Spiritual Gifts Survey gives a 128 question test and ranks the gifts based on the test score. In addition, the optional S.H.A.P.E. portion of the survey uses Saddleback Church’s S.H.A.P.E. model of Spiritual Gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personality, and Experience to help reveal how God as already shaped you for serving Him.
